Drivers who pined for a 25th Anniversary Mazda Miata were forced to act quickly when sign ups were opened earlier this week.

Mazda Miata 25th Anniversary Edition Sell Out

Earlier this month, the Mazda of Lodi blog shared details for drivers interested in one of the one hundred 25th Anniversary Mazda Miata roadsters. The combination of a paltry production run and high demand was expected to create quite the commotion when the floodgates were opened—and that’s exactly what happened on the afternoon of May 20.

Though only 100 Anniversary Edition Miatas will be sold to U.S. customers, Mazda was looking for 250 interested drivers in the event that some sign ups could not be reached or validated. The entirety of the sign up process was handled via a dedicated MX-5 anniversary website, and Mazda planned to keep the opportunity open until 250 drivers showed interest or a week and a half had passed. It took only 10 minutes for the Mazda Miata 25th Anniversary Edition to sell out.

The Mazda Miata 25th Anniversary Edition sell out took only 10 minutes.

Now that the list of potential buyers has been finalized, Mazda will contact the drivers in order of sign up to validate their intent to purchase one of the 25th Anniversary Miata coupes. Mazda will then connect those drivers with a local dealership where they can pick up their historic roadster when deliveries begin this summer.

For those who were not fortunate enough to get their name down in the 10-minute sign up window, there is a cure for the Mazda Miata 25th Anniversary Edition sell out blues. In announcing the opportunity for the special edition Miata, Mazda also announced pricing for the standard production 2015 MX-5 models that are also coming later this year. Soft-top versions of the 2015 Miata will ring in at $23,970 and hard-top models at $28,665.

As more information is made available concerning the 2015 Mazda Miata release date, be sure to catch the latest updates on the Mazda of Lodi blog. And if you or anyone you know are one of the 100 lucky Anniversary Edition drivers, feel free to share any real-life photos of the vehicle on the Mazda of Lodi Facebook page.
