Mazda6 Ceramic Concept Car

Concept cars come in all shapes and sizes. Of course, almost everyone is familiar with the type of concepts that show off an automaker’s wildest ambitions. These include designs that look to be modern-day renditions of shapes and sculptures seemingly taken from a glimpse into a future generation’s imagination pad. The art at play in a concept, however, does not always have to rewrite the book on everything that the industry knows about vehicle design. In fact, subtlety is just as important to some concepts as bold imagination.

The Mazda6 ceramic concept car is one such example of subtle success. Having first surfaced at the 2013 meeting of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the uniquely finished Mazda6 shown above has been highlighted at many Mazda events since that time, including the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. Those who have had the privilege to see and to feel the impressive sedan can attest to the fact that when it comes to concepts, “…because we can” is a perfectly adequate excuse for automakers to give their flagship auto a memorable makeover.

Styled in European club sport manner, the Mazda6 ceramic concept car calls on a color scheme consisting primarily of black and gray. The color of the body is considered composite gray—a matte finish that is similar in feel to high-quality clay or ceramic poker chips. The body is then wrapped in silver accents designed to resemble the flowing lines seen on couture fabrics in a French boutique.

Any inclination that the Mazda6 ceramic concept car is not coming to party, however, is certainly mistaken. Part of the car’s upstyling includes 20-inch wheels, H&R springs, Brembo brakes, and a race-ready exhaust. The woven leather interior makes for quite the ride inside as well.

As the Mazda6 ceramic concept car tours the nation this auto show season, make sure to see the car at the New York Auto Show this April. As always, New Jersey drivers can feel the same type of SkyActiv performance that Mazda brings to the auto shows by scheduling a test drive with Mazda of Lodi today.
