It is strongly believed that Miata fans will see the chassis of the 2015 Mazda MX-5 at the New York Auto Show.

Mazda MX-5 New York Auto Show

Fans that follow their favorite auto brands are quite familiar with the concept of an informational rollercoaster. Especially since the rise of the Internet has allowed drivers to quickly share the industry’s latest news and notes, readers have experienced the ebb and flow of various reports that outline an automaker’s upcoming plans. Much like the red, green, and yellow at a local traffic light, plans (or at least the Internet’s understanding of them) can change in an instant.

Historically speaking, Mazda fans have been acquainted with the informational rollercoaster for many years. Even since the last RX-7 was produced in 2002, rumors of its glorious return have frequently surfaced. Similar speculation has consistently been offered on behalf of the Wankel-style rotary engine. Most recently, however, much attention has been directed toward the next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata.

How much of the 2015 Mazda MX-5 may we see at the New York Auto Show?

As fans of both Mazda and the roadster coupe experience, the Mazda of Lodi blog has attempted to ride Miata’s informational rollercoaster ahead of the car’s anticipated release in early 2015. One of the stops along the way was a previous report that the all-new MX-5 would debut at next year’s Chicago Auto Show. Yet new reports suggest that Mazda fans may catch a sneak peak of the beloved two-door earlier than expected.

According to news out of the Geneva Auto Show, Chicago no longer fits the timetable that Mazda is planning for the release of the new Miata. It is believed that Mazda is planning a partial reveal of the Mazda MX-5 at the New York Auto Show next month. It appears as if the plan is to use New York to display the chassis of the new coupe and a to-be-determined venue to show off the completed car.

Though Chicago would be the historic site to reveal the new Miata, a preliminary showing of the Mazda MX-5 at the New York Auto Show does indicate that the roadster may be coming to showrooms earlier than expected in 2015. If that be the case, our apologies go to Chicago. We’d rather have the 2015 Mazda MX-5 posthaste.
