Mazda recently announced one of its latest technologies called the Mazda Mobile Start app, which connects your smartphone to your Mazda like never before. With the ability to control certain vehicle functions from your phone, it is certainly a highly anticipated product, but what Mazda vehicles will get Mazda Mobile Start?

Of course, we hope all of them do at some point in the future. As with any new technology, however, it can take some time for it to roll out throughout the entire Mazda lineup.

Features of Mazda Mobile Start

After all, this innovative technology is capable of things Mazda drivers may not have seen before, such as the ability to start a vehicle’s engine from your smartphone. This is thanks to the Smartphone Remote Engine Start system, which can start the engine and allow it to idle for up to 30 minutes.

When the engine is started using the smartphone app, the vehicle will automatically detect the climate control system settings last used in the vehicle and activate them in order to meet your preferences. The Mazda Mobile Start app will also show you how long the engine has been running and for how much longer it will run while idle.

The Mazda Mobile Start system does more than just turn on your engine, though. You can also check the door lock status on the vehicle and either unlock or lock doors. There is also a Carfinder feature that utilizes the smartphone camera and GPS technology to help you find your vehicle in a crowded or unknown area through augmented reality.

So, what Mazda vehicles will get Mazda Mobile Start? The app, available through the iOS App Store and Google Play, will first become available with the 2016 Mazda 6 and 2016 Mazda CX-5. The system has an MSRP of $500 and comes with a complimentary one-year subscription to the Mazda Mobile Start app, which otherwise costs only $65 annually. More models are expected to be added to the list this year, however, so be sure to check back to the Mazda of Lodi blog for future updates.
