2019 Mazda6 vs 2018 Mazda6

2019 Mazda6 vs 2018 Mazda6

As is the tradition with any release of a new Mazda model, we wanted to see how the April offering from the Mazda brand compares to its previous model year. Our subject in question for today is, of course, the 2019 Mazda6 midsize sedan.

Additionally, it should be made known, the 2019 Mazda6 is the final 2019 Mazda model to be released. The next model to be made available from Mazda will either be the 2020 Mazda CX-3 update or the brand-new 2020 Mazda CX-30.

However, as for the 2019 Mazda6, we’ll take today to see how it has been altered from the specs and features of its 2018 model. It’s the 2019 Mazda6 vs the 2018 Mazda6!

Most of the mechanical changes to the 2019 Mazda6 stem from its abandonment of the SKYACTIV®-MT manual transmission option. Now that the SKYACTIV®-Drive automatic transmission is standard, the 2019 Mazda6 has a better fuel economy as well as included cylinder deactivation for its starting Sport trim level.

In terms of features, the biggest change to the 2019 Mazda6 over the 2018 Mazda6 is the entire i-ACTIVSENSE® suite of safety features being made standard on all trim levels. These i-ACTIVSENSE® technologies, among other standard safety features, include:

  • Advanced Smart City Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection
  • Auto-Leveling LED Headlights
  • Automatic On/Off Headlights
  • Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • High Beam Control
  • Lane Departure Warning with Lane-Keep Assist
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go
  • Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers
  • Rearview Camera
  • Seat Belt Reminder Indicator
  • Smart Brake Support

Even more additional safety features are offered at higher trim levels.
